Kent Bikers
Kent Bikers represent 1% of traffic, yet they account for 22% of all fatal and seriously injured casualties
This makes them one of our most vulnerable groups of road users in Kent.
Did you know:
- In urban areas, the greatest risk to motorcyclists are other road users
- In rural areas, the majority of serious crashes involve single motorcyclists losing control
Our educational work targets both other road users to be mindful in looking out for bikers, as well as promoting safer behaviours for bikers themselves.
The Kent Bikers Campaign
Our aim:
To tackle the number of casualties involving bikers of all ages by providing cues which can aid bikers –
- to recognise risks and hazards and how to change their behaviour appropriately, when they are most vulnerable
- by promoting the right choice of clothing equipment and the advantages offered by its use
These messages are delivered through social media and at events.
To support this activity, the Kent Bikers website and Facebook page were built to serve the biking community as valuable meeting points where bikers can interact with each other, learn and take away interesting bike and safety information.
Motorcyclists can visit the Kent Bikers website to gain useful advice and guidance on such matters as:
- Overtaking
- Filtering
- Specialist motorcycle clothing
- Riding in groups
- Bike maintenance
- Approved driving instruction
